This painting is of the C&O Canal which runs along the Potomac River in Maryland.  This is an example of a painting which seemed to 'paint itself' and the composition and colors are beautifully balanced.  When a good light is directed towards this painting, the subtle quiet colors absolutely pop out.  It is a favorite of mine.
