"Helter Skelter"
Oil on masonite
30"x40"
One spring day when walking along a path in Maryland, I noticed little shoots of ivy pushing their way through myriads of dead leaves on the ground. I also started noticing that the colors and shapes of the surrounding leaves were remarkably balanced and evenly distributed even though they had been casually blown there in the wind. So I photographed and painted these leaves and brought them back to life and I think they are having a wonderful time.
