"For this painting, I am standing on the C&O Canal towpath looking down the Gorge cut by the Potomac River.  I am on the Maryland side and can see the Virginia cliffs in the distance.  The view is awe-inspiring. I can hardly believe that I am in the middle of a major metropolitan area."  Joann Rea
